Green On 14’s PHIUS (Passive House Institute US) design certifies a rigorous level of energy efficiency. In fact, the demand for heating and cooling is reduced by 75% to 90%. Key features include super insulation in exterior walls, high-performance windows and doors and an airtight building envelope.
A substantial portion of the heating and cooling needs come from passive solar panels along with internal heat generated from residents and appliances. A unique heat recovery ventilator continually replaces stale indoor air with fresh outdoor air, using a minimum amount of electricity.
Other benefits are exceptional sound insulation between units and from outside noise due to the thick layer of insulation.

Green on 14 townhomes are made affordable through investments by City of Minneapolis’ Minneapolis Homes Program, Minnesota Housing, and Hennepin County.
